This architectural project uses the development and decline of Hong Kong's neon signs as a storyline to showcase the city's economic boom from the 1970s to its subsequent growth. The work explores how urban memory is preserved amidst rapid urban development, with neon signs serving as a symbol of this memory. Grounded in the theory of collective memory, the design is segmented into four temporal nodes: the 1970s, 1990s, 2010s, and 2020s. Through these points in time, the project examines whether collective memory can harmoniously coexist in contemporary Hong Kong. The building recreates the urban landscapes and daily life of each era, using visual, lighting, and interactive installations to allow visitors to experience the collective memories of different times.
