798艺术区位于北京朝阳区，原为国营华北无线电718联合厂所在地。内有大量东德援建的包豪斯风格建筑、早期国家特批专线铁路、工业设备等，是我国非常珍贵的工业遗产。21世纪以来，大量艺术家因其租金低廉而入驻，进而吸引来越来越多的艺术与商业机构，798的旧工业建筑也逃离了被拆迁的命运。如今的798已成为SOHO式艺术聚落，是北京都市文化的新地标。
然而798在其身份与面貌不断更替的过程中也出现了许多问题：艺术家因租金上涨而出逃、商业与文化艺术之间不断竞争与挤压、游客的观览体验日益下降......这不禁让人担忧：798应当何去何从？
本方案给出了一种可能的回答：我们紧紧抓住了2022年即将在艺术区次入口开通的地铁站这一机遇，将迎来大量人流的次入口升级为主入口，围绕入口开始城市设计。在时间上，我们挖掘了场地历史，将场地顺应建筑年代分成四个“时区”：田园牧歌时期的798、大机器时代的798、商业与艺术区的798、未来与未知的798。在空间上，它们分别对应着世外桃源一般的艺术家社区、原有工业厂房改造的展览馆与遗址公园、熙熙攘攘的商业街和公共展览、充满未来感的新媒体艺术区或世界艺术交流中心。每个区域的策略不尽相同，但都致力于挖掘场地文脉，四个区域被一条由铁轨线路改造的公共绿带贯穿，为人群提供更加清晰而丰富的体验。方案着重设计的部分在入口区域，大致分为艺术区入口的地标剧场、艺术家社区、公共绿轴三个部分，我们针对每一个区域及其周边关系进行了更加细化的设计。
798 Art Zone is located in Chaoyang District, Beijing. It was formerly the site of the state-run North China Radio 718 Joint Factory. It is a very precious industrial heritage in China. Today, 798 has become a SOHO-style art colony and a new landmark of Beijing's urban culture. However, in the process of constant change of 798's identity and appearance, there are also many problems: artists flee because of rising rent, competition and squeeze between commerce and culture and art, and tourists' viewing experience is declining day by day...... This makes people worry: what should 798 do next? This proposal gives one possible answer: we seize the opportunity of the subway station which will open at the sub-entrance of the arts district in 2022, and start the urban design around the entrance. In terms of time, we excavate the history of the site and divide the site into four "time zones" according to the architectural time: 798 in the pastoral period, 798 in the big machine age, 798 in the commercial and art district, and 798 in the future and the unknown. Each zone has a different strategy, but all of them are dedicated to excavating the context of the site. The four zones are intersected by a public green belt transformed from railway lines to provide a clearer and richer experience for the crowd. The main part of the plan is the entrance area, which is roughly divided into three parts: the landmark theater at the entrance of the art district, the artist community and the public green axis. We designed each area and its surrounding relations in a more detailed way.
